ZUMBA TONING® Love ZUMBA but want to take it to another level??? Why not try ZUMBA TONING? When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba Toning raises the fitness game.

Zumba Toning combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while still getting in shape and having a total blast!

ZUMBA TONING CLASSES
Specialty classes designed to blend body-sculpting techniques and specific Zumba moves into one calorie-burning, strength-training class. You will use weighted, maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks or light hand weights (up to 3lbs) to enhance rhythm, build strength and tone all the target zones. *This class can also include older adults who wish to do a slower Zumba workout minus the weights!

THE PROPER WAY TO USE YOUR TONING STICKS
By Jani Roberts, Zumba Education Specialist

1. Get Centered: For the majority of the time, the sticks should be held in the center with a light grip.

2. Toning Sticks Don’ts — Never use the sticks in the warm-up or cooldown. It’s important to maintain proper alignment and form while using the sticks. Avoid “power movements,” such as jumping with the sticks, as well as rhythms that are simply too fast. Remember, even though the sticks are a blast, they are not a toy. The instructor must guide the students through safe and effective movements.

3. Choose Toning Sticks over Dumbbells — First, they are more fun! Sticks double as resistance weights and as musical instruments. Second, dumbbells don’t “give.” The Toning Sticks are filled with sand and they move with you. This reduces stress on the joints while still providing resistance.

4. Slow it Down — It’s all about conscious contraction. You want your students to feel every moment. By learning to feel the movement, they will work harder and in turn see greater results. You’ll watch them become more mind-body aware. They will learn how to take their workout to the next level, and you will see them carry this development into your Basic classes.

5. Step it Up — The newest Toning Sticks are 2.5 lbs/1.14 kilos each. These sticks, with their longer lever, were designed with men in mind – and for women who want to step it up a notch. Remember in Zumba Toning classes, we move quickly. You may want to alternate between the lighter and heavier sticks.
MAKE SURE EACH MOVEMENT IS CONTROLLED!!  DO NOT LET MOMENTUM SWING THE WEIGHTS. KEEP PROPER BODY ALIGNMENT AND WATCH THE INSTRUCTOR FOR CORRECT FORM!!
